The current check of active and upcoming clinical programmes tracked by MyelinWatch found no registered recruiting site in Greece. Recruiting studies are currently located in countries including the Netherlands, France and the United States, while MACSiMiSE-BRAIN is active but not recruiting in Belgium.
What this means clinically
For someone in Greece, a global Recruiting label does not mean a Greek centre is available. Location, eligibility and direct contact with the trial site still need to be checked.

The ACT-1004-1239 study in progressive MS is active in CTIS and examines MRI, electrophysiological and biochemical remyelination endpoints. CTIS lists one participating country and one site: the Netherlands.
What this means clinically
This is an important European trial for the field, but it is not currently a recruitment option through a Greek centre and there are no clinical-benefit results yet.

OCTOPUS scheduled its first interim analysis for September 2026, with a go/no-go decision for the initial arms around October. It includes metformin and alpha-lipoic acid and now assesses clinical measures alongside MRI.
What this means clinically
A positive Stage 1 signal would matter to people with progressive MS internationally, including Greece. It is not a final Phase 3 result or proof that metformin repairs disability.

New Fleming/NKUA study examines fibronectin and failed myelin repair

Researchers including teams from BSRC Alexander Fleming and the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens described a mechanism in which fibronectin accumulation may trap OPCs in demyelinated lesions. Fibronectin inhibition improved remyelination in experimental models.
What this means clinically
This is important Greek participation in basic and translational research, not an available treatment or human trial. There is no evidence of clinical benefit in people.
