PIPE-307: the Phase 2 VISTA study did not show the hoped-for benefit

Worth knowing

In relapsing-remitting MS, PIPE-307 had acceptable safety and tolerability, but it did not reach the study's main or secondary measures of benefit.

What this means for people with MS

One of the most discussed drugs designed specifically to repair myelin did not show benefit in Phase 2. It is uncertain whether development for MS will continue.

Blocking fibronectin restored remyelination in experimental models

A PNAS study found that a protein called fibronectin can build up in areas where myelin has been lost. This may trap immature cells that could otherwise become myelin-making cells. Blocking fibronectin improved myelin repair and symptoms in two animal models.
