REMODEL: remibrutinib in relapsing MS

Published by MyelinWatch:

REMODEL (remibrutinib) · Two separate Phase 3 trials compared oral remibrutinib, which inhibits the immune-signalling enzyme BTK, with teriflunomide in adults with active relapsing MS. REMODEL is not the REMASTER SPMS study.

What is being studied

Two separate Phase 3 trials compared oral remibrutinib, which inhibits the immune-signalling enzyme BTK, with teriflunomide in adults with active relapsing MS. REMODEL is not the REMASTER SPMS study.

Research stage

Large study to confirm benefit and safety

The study continues without taking new participants.

What we know so far

In both trials the annualised relapse rate was lower with remibrutinib. The abstract reports 2,007 randomised adults and common adverse events, but the full article and safety appendix were not reviewed; disability outcomes require separate assessment.

What this means for patients today

These are group-level results against one comparator, not a personalised treatment recommendation. Both trials are active without new recruitment. Generic Greek registry location rows do not prove an available study place or Greek medicine access.

REMODEL-2 lists seven Greek locations under generic “Novartis Investigative Site” labels, not verified named centres or open places; study is not accepting new participants.

REMODEL-1 and REMODEL-2: remibrutinib lowered relapse rates versus teriflunomide

The Lancet published REMODEL-1 and REMODEL-2 results on 23 October 2026. Adults with relapsing multiple sclerosis received remibrutinib 100 mg twice daily or teriflunomide 14 mg daily. The PubMed article abstract reports annualised relapse rates of 0.073 versus 0.112 in REMODEL-1 (rate ratio 0.648, 95% CI 0.453–0.927) and 0.080 versus 0.116 in REMODEL-2 (0.688, 0.487–0.972). The abstract reports common adverse events and fewer adverse-event-related treatment discontinuations with remibrutinib (3.1% versus 5.8%), but full safety tables were not available in this review. These RMS trials are distinct from the separate REMASTER trial in secondary progressive MS.
